He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the [a]fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and [b]buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall [c]bear you up,
Lest you [d]dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will [e]set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With [f]long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.” Psalms 91:1-16
I was listening to a minister, and she was talking about how we don’t know what we know anymore. How things have become so watered down and literally lost in translation that most of the body of Christ is either confused or trusting someone’s interpretation of an interpretation. It’s basically he said she said in the body of Christ no one takes the time to test the word and read the word. To become intimate with the scriptures and know what it actually says for themselves.
I was listening to a song that sings some of this verse and it seems like such an intimate moment between David and God. Have you ever read someone’s love letter to another or watched a romantic comedy, and it touched you? the scriptures are as such they not only have a way of soothing us because they are the spirit-filled words of God but they show us that as God was faithful to those of the Bible he will be faithful to us as well because we are his people.
I know a lot of people in this hour who deal with uncertainty, anxiety, and stress about what tomorrow will bring or how this or that will work out. Those things are not for us to be caught up in those are the cares and the affairs of this present life and while we can’t completely ignore things around us we can put God to his word and spend time with him reading his word and letting it getting into every part of who we are so that when the emery tries to rear its head the word of God will rise in us and cut its head off. Or faith will rise in us, and we can go another day. Or God will speak and quiet those things.
He is so able! It was very hard to just pick a portion of that verse because to me it’s such a beautiful passage. To know he who spends time with God he is dwelling with them. He is covering them, walking with them, making intercession for them. I have lived in darkness and confusion and now am in the light and believe me there is a difference it is peaceful. We must equip ourselves with the truth so that we are ready for any situation that might come our way. Dwell with him this week so he may dwell in you!
