Who Is In Control?

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? Psalms 2:1

I was listening to a song and it said “though all the nations rage God is in control.” It really started my mind rolling on the implications of that statement and its appearance in the bible. Of course, it’s not quite scripture verbatim but you can see above one place it could have originated. I’m sure you know by now the bible is word for word at times and other times its metaphorical and other times it’s both. So, when I hear this and see this verse the first thing that comes to my mind is we are nations each person and individual is a nation and we rage and are raging at times and people around us are raging at times because we do not allow God to have control in our life. If we will allow him to come into us and have control and not let the powers of this world control us such as envy, strife, pride, anger and so on then we will become his glory and as we become his glory then the atmospheres around us will begin to change. God will begin to come into the midst of our workplaces, our jobs, and our circumstances because now we have allowed him to be in control of our life. How do we know if God is in control or another which is just flesh it’s not because you are evil it just means that you’ve spent too much time dwelling on old hurts, pains, offenses or dwelling on things below (earthly) and not above (heavenly) and it makes those feelings strong and they can control you at times you may find yourself doing things out of character or something you didn’t really want to do. The bible says this:

13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:13-18

When we dwell on things above and on Christ then he becomes the head in our lives and he begins to take control and he begins to take out old distractions and things that don’t matter so he can rule in us so he can make straight the crooked path and add his blessings and his peace to our life. However, if we engage and entertain the other the bible says disorder is our portion. Pray this week and examine yourself see if you are holding on to or harboring old hurts and pains. It doesn’t hurt the one whom you have these feelings towards it only hurts you and stands in between you and God and your blessings. It becomes a breeding ground for the things mentioned in James 3:13-18. Ask God in your prayer time to uproot these things so that you can receive all the goodness God wants to add to your life. I pray the song and the word ministers to you and you are blessed this week. Sometimes it’s hard to look in ourselves and see things we don’t want to see but it’s the only way to move forward and lucky for us we serve a mighty God who has come to make us new.
