Garment of Praise for a Spirit of Heaviness!

In this hour it is becoming all too common for us to have a spirit of heaviness. However, the Bible says that he’s come ” To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness” Isaiah 61:3. You ever just find yourself in depression or heaviness over a situation you feel you have no control over or just life circumstances. Have you ever just stopped yourself and just begun to praise God for His goodness or if you feel there is no goodness or you can’t see it yet for the promise of coming goodness. The Bible says if we will do this an exchange will happen in our spirit that he will take that heaviness off of us like a garment and leave behind a praise. There are so many benefits to praising God. Look at Jericho it brought down impenetrable walls! He can do that in our lives in impenetrable situations and circumstances when we praise God He can begin to penetrate them. It says that he inhabits our praises as we praise he comes and he dwells in those praises. I’ve seen it over and over in my life when I was down and out or when depression tried to come over me because of my circumstances. I would stop and praise God and he would inhabit those praises and begin to lift my spirits. Then he would turn it all around! The Bible also says praise sets up ambushes for our enemies. Praise him today for all that was and is and is to come! I guarantee you will see a change!

I like to sometimes give a challenge just to help keep you in the Bible over the next week. I would say this week find some praise music and take some time to listen to it and see how it lifts you. A great choice is Maverick City Music or Upperroom they sing a lot of scripture so it’s powerful. Also, look up where the word praise shows up in the Bible and see what you find.
